Answer
The official hajj quota for Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries, including Malaysia, was determined during the OIC Meeting in 1988 in Amman, Jordan. The Government of Saudi Arabia set the hajj quota for every country at 0.1% of the total population based on the United Nation’s World Population Prospect statics.
As such, the official quota for Malaysia is 31,600 (based on the current Malaysian population).
