Savings
Savings in TH are based on the concept of Wakalah, where an individual (Muwakkil) appoints another party (Wakil) as their representative to manage their affairs. It is Shariah-compliant and fully guaranteed by the Government of Malaysia.
The transition to the Wakalah Contract will take effect on December 31, 2019, replacing the previous Wadiah Yad Dhamanah savings contract. Under this new contract, TH acts as a representative to manage depositors' funds for investment activities and Hajj operations, where profits generated annually will be distributed to depositors based on TH’s financial performance.
TH continually strives to improve its services through reforms and restructuring for the benefit of its depositors. Among the advantages of saving with TH is the 100% government guarantee in accordance with the Tabung Haji Act 1995, and the payment of zakat on behalf of depositors. Existing depositors do not need to fill out any new documents and can continue their transactions as usual at any TH branch nationwide.
Prior to December 31, 2019, TH communicated that by retaining their account with TH after December 31, 2019, depositors are deemed to have agreed to the transition to the Wakalah concept for the deposit contract.
