Dam and Qurban Service 1444H/2023M

1. What are Dam and Qurban?

Dam is the sacrificial animal from the category of an'am (quadrupedal animals) that is slaughtered or which equivalent is paid in terms of food or fasting for certain reasons by those performing hajj and umrah. Hajj pilgrims who perform hajj through the methods of Tamattu' or Qiran are required to pay Dam Tertib and Taqdir.

The Qurban ritual refers to the act of sacrificing al-An’am animals to seek closeness to Allah S.W.T. This is carried out during the celebration of Eid al-Adha on the 10th of Zulhijjah and the days of Tasyrik on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of Zulhijjah.

2. What is the transaction limit for Dam and Qurban? The transaction limit for Dam is once per individual. There is no transaction limit for Qurban.
3. Can the transaction amount for Dam/Qurban be refunded after the transaction has been successful?

The payment debited from the TH depositor's savings account for the purpose of the Dam and Qurban payment is final and cannot be refunded.

If there is any excess from the payment amount due to factors such as foreign currency exchange rates or changes in the cost of third-party management, the excess will be channeled to the Malaysian Hajj Pilgrims Welfare Fund ("Tabung Kebajikan Jemaah Haji Malaysia" or "TKJHM") to be utilized as best as possible (based on the terms and conditions agreed upon by the Prospective Pilgrim).

4. Why are the Dam and Qurban services provided in the homeland?

With the availability of the Dam and Qurban payment services through the THiJARI application and in the Homeland, prospective Hajj pilgrims especially those who will perform Tamattu' or Qiran Hajj are given the opportunity to fulfill one of their obligations by paying the Dam in advance to ease arrangements in the Holy Land.

TH depositors are also given the opportunity to carry out the Qurban ritual in the Holy Land.

5. Who can make the Dam and Qurban payment?

The Dam payment option is available exclusively to Prospective Pilgrims for the current year, whereas Qurban payments are open to all TH depositors.

Can prospective pilgrims make Dam payments in the homeland even if they have not yet intended to perform Hajj?

Prospective pilgrims are allowed to make Dam payments in their Homeland even if they have not yet performed niat Hajj or have not performed Umrah. This decision was approved by the TH-JAKIM Hajj Worship Advisory Committee in 2006.
7. When do the Dam and Qurban payment services start?

8. Can Prospective Pilgrims pay for all types of Dam in the homeland? Not all types of Dam can be paid for in the Homeland. The Dam payment available to Prospective Pilgrims in the homeland is only for Haji Tamattu' or Qiran.
9. What kind of livestock will be sacrificed for Qurban?

TH provides Qurban services for goats/qibas only.

10. What is the payment rate for Dam and Qurban services? The payment rate for Dam is RM725 for one goat/qibas, while the payment rate for Qurban is RM900 for one goat/qibas.
11. Why is the Qurban fee higher compared to Dam? The Qurban rate is higher because the demand for livestock increases during the period, and the implementation period of the slaughtering needs to be completed in a short period (4 days) compared to Dam, which is not subject to livestock supply and specific dates.

How do I make Dam and Qurban payments?

Dam and Qurban payments can be made through the THiJARI application by selecting the menu available in THiJARI:

  1. Menu > Haji Services > Dam Payment > select TH account and type of Dam
  2. Menu > Qurban > select TH account and type of Qurban

However, for those who have constraints, they can still go to the branch office for Dam and Qurban payment transactions via TH savings account debit.

Prospective Pilgrims and TH depositors must ensure that their account balance is sufficient as the payment will be deducted from their TH savings account.

Can payment be made on behalf of other TH depositors or prospective pilgrims?

  1. Dam payment

    Only for oneself (Prospective pilgrims cannot pay dam on behalf of other prospective pilgrims).

  2. Qurban payment

    Can be made on behalf of other Prospective Pilgrims (for example, a husband paying on behalf of his wife).
     

All payments will be deducted from the payer's TH savings account.
